H2 Mathematics
A Personalised Learning & Structured Guidance Approach
Importance of H2 Mathematics
H2 Mathematics is designed to train JC students to be analytical problem solvers and to be able to apply mathematical concepts in a real-world context. Through this, it is hoped that students will experience and can better appreciate the beauty of mathematics and its value in life, and will thus be better prepared for a range of courses across various disciplines when they enter university.
In H2 Mathematics, students will be exposed to two branches: Pure Mathematics and Statistics. Pure Mathematics relies heavily on our understanding of Additional Mathematics, while Statistics relies on only (Elementary) Mathematics. The learning curve for the transition from Secondary Mathematics (regardless of whether a student is in the O-Level or IP stream) to both these branches of H2 Mathematics is steep. That is why many students struggle with this important subject if they lack the foundation or lack a clear study & practice plan.
Lesson Structure & Objectives
Our lessons are designed in a way that JC students can learn in a structured and guided manner, and yet personalise their learning. The lessons are conducted as stand-alone modules.
Our Mathematics modular lessons aim to help JC students:
-
Build a strong foundation by mastering the key fundamental concepts in H2 Mathematics;
-
Sharpen their analytical skills and techniques that are required to tackle challenging questions in JC exams & the A-Level Mathematics exam; and
-
Cultivate interest in Mathematics so that learning Mathematics becomes practical and effective.
.
There are SIX (6) H2 Mathematics modules in total. To learn more, please click the respective module icons below.
Every module entails three types of lessons - all of which are tiered by level of difficulty:
a) Lecture & Practice:
-
Concept Development
-
Practice (with step-by-step solutions) - Basic Practice, Guided Practice & Self-Practice
b) A-Level Revision
-
Carefully curated A-Level Questions with step-by-step solutions
c) Preliminary Exam Revision
-
Specially adapted Preliminary Examination Questions with step-by-step solutions
For each module, we will start off with Lecture & Practice, before proceeding to A-Level Revision lessons, and finally, to the Preliminary Exam Revision lessons.
